My wife Gretchen and I moved to the Everglades nine years ago after living in Montana for most of our lives. Here we chased trout on the Yellowstone, Madison, Gallatin and other rivers across the state. The greater Yellowstone area is truly a magical place to live but we found ourselves wanting to do more saltwater fly trips every year. We moved here, bought a flats boat and have spent most of our time since fly fishing the vast area of keys out our backdoor known as the 10,000 Islands and Everglades National Park.
We have three boats to accommodate all conditions and fishing situations here in the backcounty of the Everglades. Our 17' Maverick Master Angler powered by a 115 Yamaha 4-stroke engine can comfortably accommodate 2 anglers for a full day of fishing.
Not many folks have heard of a Scandy White and if you have, you know what this boat can do. It is a 16' extremely shallow water boat with a tunnel hull design that will skim across the shallowest of bays for site fishing in the skinniest water possible. We just got this boat and can't wait to use it, especially during the winter when the fish are way back.
The middle picture is of our "gator" colored kayak I use for getting into the extreme back country. This type of fishing is definitely not for everyone but the rewards can be outstanding. Due to it's size, shape and color we keep it out of the water during gator mating season!
